Viruses, spyware, and other malicious software have become common. When your computer becomes infected, you are in danger of personal data being collected and sent from your own computer without your knowledge. Sometimes a heavy infection is the result of several different types of infections and they rob your computer of performance and sometimes even hi-jack your web browser making it difficult if not impossible to even browse the web.
While most computers do have an antivirus program installed, it doesn’t thwart the types of malware that people are tricked into installing on their own computer. Once a computer is infected, rarely will installing one of the popular boxed antivirus programs restore your computer and rid it of the infections. Don’t waste your time and money running up to the store to buy some antivirus software in hopes that you can clean up the problem.
If you are taking your computer somewhere to get it “cleaned”, be wary of solutions that insist on performing a system recovery or reformatting, at best this will set your computer back to the state that was when you first bought it. You will then have to reinstall all of your software, and reactivate it which can be a hassle too. After you have all of your software installed, you then have to reconfigure it to your preferences. While sometimes a reformat and recovery is the only solution, it is very rare that a computer can’t be cleaned if it is in the right hands.
